Gardening For Kids Welcomes You

The only thing better than gardening, is doing it with someone you love.  Sometimes that may be a spouse, other times a pet, and if you are lucky enough, with a child.  Even if you just want to share your love of gardening with your grandchildren or neices and nephews, you will find information and products to share with them to grow and nurish their love of gardening.

Children love to be outside and they love to have a sense of accomplishment and adding to the family.  What better than to set them up with their own vegetable or flower garden?  If you live in an apartment, you will find container gardening information and other growing activities.

We have “how to” videos, projects for kids, and more.  Please look through our pages and use the contact page to let us know about anything else you would like to see.

Kids gardening scrapebooks are a fun and easy garden project that teaches children several lessons such as planning, observation, documenting, record keeping and more.

Growing tomatoes with kids is a great project and even more important since the big Florida tomato crop loss. Tomatoes make a good gardening project because the seed comes up fast, the plants grow fast, and the kids can begin eating their results before losing interest. Cherry tomatoes can be harvested daily as a nutrious treat.

Planting seeds with kids can be a rewarding lesson. Using big seeds like beans, tiny seeds like petunia, round seeds, or flat marigold seeds teaches children about diversity and a realization that seed come in all shapes and sizes and colors.

Hydroponic gardening is gardening in water and children love it. Depending on the age of the children, it can be as simple as putting a cutting in a glass of water, to mixing a special nutrient mix to recycle through the roots of various plants during a season. Check out out articles about hydropnic children gardening.

Planning projects with children can be rewarding but can get expensive unless you grow your own materials. Growing herbs with kids can yield fresh herbs for cooking projects, oils, medicines and more. Dried herbs can be used in sachets, herb wreaths, arrangements, pressed into paper, and more. If you live in an apartment, check out our growing herbs indoor with kids page. Growing your own herbs with children will be a double project that you can keep on using.

Besides our page with indoor herb gardening, check gardening indoor with kis for more ideas. Many of our projects, such as making a gardening scrapebook, or growing tomotoes can be accomplished indoors if you have the proper windows.

Are your kids learning to take care of their pets? How about teaching your kids to grow catnip?. It will be a kids gardening project that the kids can start, see the seeds come up in a week, then follow the development all the way until it is given to the family cat in some form.
