Kids’ Garden at the Marshfield Fairgrounds

Give them their own ‘patch’. This is a great way for children to learn to be responsible for something. It is best if your plot is small, at least at first. If you love him and want to do more, you can always make it bigger.
Would encourage them to produce results as quickly as possible. When I was a little Tacker that time seemed almost stopped especially when I was waiting for something. Start with seedlings of lettuce, cherry tomatoes or snow peas foods they love and are quick to yield results. Potatoes are always a winner. Dig is like digging for buried treasure!

Take your little (s) with you to select the seeds that can grow on his land. Probably choose plants with bright colors and interesting textures that add interest to your table. You will find that they are actually willing to eat what they have grown, so you have to try new things. This also gives them a sense of value of the contribution to the family and pride in themselves.

Most people just love flowers, as are visual creatures, so it can introduce the planting. Teach them to grow good plant combinations and how it keeps insect populations in check. Try borage and strawberries, or tomatoes and parsley or basil. By the way, spend some time together watching the mistakes is a great way to learn about nature and how everything is interconnected.

Let the child be in charge of its review. You can guide with tips and advice, but leaves the final decision will be theirs. Encourage the mark when and where the seeds of plants that are not working in an area already planted seed in. This lets them know when to expect to outbreaks appear looking very exciting! Remind them that water and weeds. Let’s make the most of the “work”, so the results are truly yours. Allow it to be a place of discovery, not mistakes. Encourage them to clean up after finishing his fields for the day. Establishing good habits now will have great benefits in your life.

Structures of small buildings, such as a trellis or tepee bean adds interest and dimension. You and your child can use bamboo or wire to make a small simple structure for plants to climb. The vines look great on a structure and can get very quickly indeed. Try climbing beans, peas or cucumbers.

Enjoy your time together in the garden. Make sure that the place of his son is near where he spends most of his time in the garden. You may be working his vegetable garden while they are in theirs. You can share moments of excitement and discovery, as when the first seeds break through the surface, or when you notice the first cucumber on the vine, or a beautiful flower that just came out. Your garden is a place of constant amazement that we can share with their children. So have fun and enjoy!
